Please join us in thanking Jean Provart for organizing a surprise treat for all our faculty and staff. The treat cart was a success (and hopefully a monthly surprise)! Special thanks to this month's sponsors, Rose House/Olivia Rose Boutique, Isaac Davison, DDS and J &S Excavating for the appreciation and treats. We are grateful for our community and their continued partnership and support in our schools and acknowledge the incredible efforts of our faculty and staff. Also thank you to our social workers, Allison Sims, Kailah Kelly, and Natalie Hubler, for collaborating on this project and keeping it a secret. . . and surprise!

STEM Activity: Math Flowers for Finding the Missing Addend In this STEM activity, students in 1st grade explored math by creating colorful flowers during the afterschool program. This is a fun and challenging activity filled with critical thinking and problem-solving skills as students focus on finding the missing addend. Students will started by designing their own unique math flowers using sidewalk chalk with each petal representing a different number. Next, students choose a math equation with a missing addend and wrote it in the center of their flower. They then listed a number to each petal so that the sum matches the center problem. Once completed, students shared their math flowers and explain their reasoning. This encourages valuable discussions and collaborative learning. This STEM activity strengthens addition skills, understanding of missing addends, and improves fine motor, creativity, and presentation skills. It transforms our playground int an engaging and interactive math learning environment full of vibrant MATH flowers! Thanks to Ms. Stanhouse for sharing the activity photos and designing this fun opportunity.

In Science last week, Mrs. Brown's 3rd grade class has been learning about conducting investigations. We have learned the importance of asking a question, forming a hypothesis, recording observations and collecting data.... today we conducted our first hands-on investigation! We know it’s hot… but, is it hot enough to melt crayons?!
