Important Dates for the 2022-2023 School Year

REGISTRATION:

  • Elementary (Grades K-4): Kindergarten students who need to turn in physicals, students who did not complete pre-registration, new students to the district, and students who need to pay fees should register on Thursday, August 4th from 8:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. in the Elementary Media Center. Students who completed pre-registration do not need to attend. Students will be notified by mail of their homeroom teacher for the 2022-2023 school year and may access the class assignment in TeacherEase.
  • Middle School (Grades 5-8): Students attending Du Quoin Middle School who pre-registered (grades 5-8) do not need to register. Students who did not pre-register and also new students should report to school on Thursday, August 4th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The school nurse will be available to review immunization records and physical information. Sixth grade students must present a physical (a sports physical cannot be accepted). Class lists will be posted before school starts.
  • High School (Grades 9-12):  Students who did not pre-register and also new students should report to the high school on Monday, July 25th from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Incoming freshmen (9th grade) students should report to the high school on Tuesday, July 26th from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. The school nurse will be available to review immunization records and physical information. Orientation for new students and freshmen will be held at the high school on Thursday, August 4th, at 5:00 p.m.

New students from out-of-state must present a physical and immunization records, verification of grade placement, an official copy of their birth certificate, and proof of residency. Students cannot complete the registration process until these requirements are met.

In the spring, the Du Quoin CUSD 300 Board of Education adopted a calendar for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.  Here are important dates for 2022-2023 in District 300:

  • Monday, August 15 - The first day of attendance for students. (2:00 PM student dismissal for entire first week of school, Aug. 15-19.)  

  • Wednesday, August 31 - Half-day for student attendance

  • Friday, September 2 - NO SCHOOL - Regional teacher institute

  • Monday, September 5 - Labor Day - No school

  • Friday, September 30 - Half-day for student attendance  

  • Monday, October 10 (Columbus Day) - NO SCHOOL

  • Tuesday, October 18 - Parent/Teacher Conferences (3:30-6:30 PM)

  • Monday, October 31 - Half-day for student attendance

  • Tuesday, November 8 - Election day - required school holiday

  • Friday, November 11 - Veterans Day - NO SCHOOL

  • November 23-25 - Thanksgiving break - NO SCHOOL

  • Wednesday, December 21 - Half-day for student attendance, End of 1st Semester

  • December 22-January 2 - Christmas break - NO SCHOOL

  • Tuesday, January 3 - Teacher Institute - No school for students

    • Wednesday, January 4 - School resumes

  • Monday, January 16 - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - NO SCHOOL

  • Tuesday, January 31 - Half-day for student attendance

  • Monday, February 20 - Presidents Day - NO SCHOOL

  • Tuesday, February 28 - Half-day for student attendance

  • Friday, March 3 - 2:00 PM dismissal

  • March 6-10 - Spring break - NO SCHOOL

    • School resumes on Monday, March 13

  • Friday, March 31 - Half-day for student attendance

  • Thursday, April 6 - 2:00 PM dismissal

  • April 7-10 - Easter weekend - NO SCHOOL

  • Friday, April 28 - Half-day for student attendance

  • Monday, May 29 - Memorial Day - NO SCHOOL 

  • May 31 - Tentative last day of school
