American Red Cross Facts about blood donation:

A single blood donation can save up to three lives!!!

  • Every 2 seconds, someone in the US needs blood.  1 in 10 people entering the hospital need blood.  The average transfusion uses 3.4 pints of blood.

  • A newborn baby has about one cup of blood in its body.  An average adult body contains 10-12 pints of blood.  A person can donate 5-6 times a year.

  • However, most people only donate about 1.4 times a year.  Around 97% of us will need blood sometime in our life, but only 5% of medically eligible people donate blood.

You can make a difference the whole year through.  Someone’s life could depend upon your donation.
