DU QUOIN EDUCATION ASSOCIATION TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS

The Du Quoin Education Association is awarding a $500 scholarship for the 30th time in the spring of 2026.  The funds were raised from contributions by Du Quoin Education Association members, District 300 teachers.  More than $14,000 has been awarded over the past 30 years.   

The requirements are: graduate of Du Quoin High School or son/daughter of a DEA member, accepted into a College of Education program, and attained junior standing in college.  Priority will be given to a son/daughter of a DEA member.

The application package must be complete and arranged in the order described below:

1.      Scholarship application.

2.      Typewritten statement of 300 words or less indicating why you want to be a teacher.

3.      Two dated, signed letters of recommendation covering applicant’s ability, work habits, integrity and potential (non-relatives).

4.      Typewritten list of extracurricular activities, honors received, employment, scholastic achievements, or other significant accomplishments (maximum one page).

5.      Transcripts from each college attended.
