Honoring Our Veterans
As we recognize Veterans Day this month, Du Quoin Community Unit School District extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have served and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces. Your courage, dedication, and sacrifice safeguard the freedoms we enjoy each day.
We are proud to honor our veterans and their families as part of our school and community.
Please take note of the following schedule reminders and special events for Du Quoin Schools:
Friday, November 7 – Veterans Celebration at the Flagpole
Our 1st Grade students, in collaboration with the Du Quoin Middle School Band, will host a Pledge at the Flagpole beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the K-8 campus.
All area veterans are warmly invited to attend as our students lead the Pledge of Allegiance, band plays patriotic songs and share a moment of gratitude in honor of those who have served our country.
Monday, November 10 – No Student Attendance &
Tuesday, November 11 – Veterans Day (No School)
In observance of Veterans Day, all Du Quoin schools will be closed Mon., Nov. 10 - Tues., Nov. 11. We encourage our students, staff, and families to take time to reflect on the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans.The Du Quoin Chamber of Commerce will host the 2025 Veterans Day Parade on Tuesday, November 11, at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Du Quoin. We encourage our students and families to take part in this meaningful community event as we come together to honor our nation’s heroes.
Monday, November 17 – Late Start: School Improvement Day
School will begin at 9:00 a.m. to allow time for staff collaboration and professional development focused on continuous school improvement.
