The District #300 Educational Foundation proudly hosted its 18th Annual James Booker Memorial Golf Scramble on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Red Hawk Country Club. The morning event brought together 11 teams in a friendly competition, raising funds to support scholarships and classroom grants for students in District #300.
In the A Flight, first place went to David Vancil, Dennis Vancil, Charles Rainwater, and Danny Czerwinski, finishing with an impressive score of 49—21 under par. The B Flight winners were the First Mid Wealth Management team: Rich Gossett, Joella Gossett, Cannon Gossett, and JC Davis.
Course competition winners received prizes courtesy of Red Hawk Golf Course and owner Dan Breslin. Winners included Kelsey Wright (Women’s Closest to Pin), Brittany Goldman (Women’s Longest Drive), David Vancil (Men’s Longest Drive), and Greg Wilson (Men’s Closest to Pin). A hole-in-one challenge sponsored by long-time Foundation supporter Vogler Motors – Greg Wilson of Carbondale offered the chance to win a two-year lease on a new Ford Bronco Sport, but no players claimed the prize this year.
The Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to the more than 20 local and regional businesses whose sponsorships and donations made the event possible. Golfers received a variety of gifts, including a Foundation-logo sleeve of golf balls, items donated by Du Quoin CUSD #300, and complimentary soft drinks courtesy of Pepsi MidAmerica – Tim Leake.
