Dear DES Families,
The weather is beginning to feel more like winter every day. We hold outdoor recess daily unless it is raining or too cold. Students need to be prepared with coats and accessories to enjoy the outdoor periods and time to “exercise” our energy. Please review the guide we use in making decisions concerning recess in the attached Child Care Weather Watch document provided in the email.  I strongly urge you to write your child’s first and last name on all garments as well as backpacks and lunchboxes.
We truly appreciate the PTO running Santa’s Workshop this week providing students with a unique opportunity to understand the importance of “giving” during this holiday season. It was great to see so many volunteers helping students, as well as, the individual attention each student received during the process. Thanks so much parents!
The faculty, staff and I are participating in some holiday spirit themed days tied to books, poems and songs. We would like to invite students to participate in the remaining days if you would like. Below are the themes for the remaining days until the holiday break:

Friday, Dec. 13 - adorn yourself with holiday gear and head wear as we take on the roles on a Christmas pageant theme.

Monday, Dec. 16 - you're invited to a Ho, Ho, Hoe Down County Christmas - wear a western outfit to make Nashville jealous!

Tuesday, Dec. 17 - don't make it a Blue Holiday! Wear your Elvis blue and best!
Wednesday, Dec. 18 – It’s Grinch day, and our Principal says watch for that Grinch, he'll steal all the candy!

Thursday, Dec. 19 - Wear Spanish inspired outfits as we celebrate Feliz Navidad!

Friday, Dec. 20 - it's National Ugly Sweater Day - bring on your best for this final day of our holiday themed days! Remember December 20  is a 2:00 dismissal next week.
