The student council is an organization at Du Quoin High School that can help provide leadership skills to student throughout and beyond the Du Quoin High School community.
DuQuoin High School collected 3300 food items for our local food pantries. Thank you DHS faculty, staff, and students. Thanks to Ward School who also contributed to our food drive! The Maple Street Food Pantry said your efforts will help them feed people all the way through March! Your kindness and consideration is helping those less fortunate in our local community.
Student Council sponsored a "Fun February Week" February 12th- February 16th.
- Monday was PJ Day (School Dress Code Applies)
- Tuesday was Twin Day
- Wednesday was Heart Day Supporting the American Heart Association (Dress up wearing hearts)
- Thursday was Old and Young Day, (Juniors and Seniors dress like the elderly and Freshman and Sophomores dress like toddlers (School Dress Code Applies)
- Friday was Red and Black Day.
How to Become a Member
To become a member of Student Council, students must complete a membership petition. They must also have teachers and fellow students vouch for their character. There is also a $20 due that students who are a part of student council must pay.
The LEDSC District Convention was Tuesday, March 6, 2018. 360 members were present from 14 area schools. Olivia Whitley was elected to Little Egypt District of Student Council’s executive board. She will serve as Treasurer for the 2018-2019 school year. Maddie Robison and Katie Smith served as Credential Committee members. The Convention was held at Mt. Vernon Township High School.
