DISTRICT #300 EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF SUCCESS

The 10th Annual District #300 Educational Foundation dinner event was held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 in the DuQuoin High School Auditorium and Commons. The evening was attended by approximately 270 people who were there to honor DuQuoin High School seniors who were receiving scholarship awards and to recognize those individuals who have served as members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors for the past 10 years.

A total of 76 scholarships were awarded to 41 high school seniors. Scholarships were funded by 38 different organizations or individuals with the Foundation providing 24 scholarship awards. The dinner event program also included highlighting those individuals, groups, organizations, or businesses that support the Foundation through various fundraising activities. During the current school year over $5,000 was distributed through the Foundation mini-grant program for field trips and classroom projects with the Foundation also contributing funding for the High School “Pillars of Success” program.

In the past 10 years the Foundation has awarded 534 scholarships to graduating seniors worth nearly $600,000. As well, the Foundation has provided $60,000 in support for the Foundation mini-grant program and in support of other educational programs that directly benefit students. During the dinner event the Foundation Recognition Program also highlighted the contributions of 19 individuals who have or currently serve as members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. These individuals have been key to the initial development and continued success of the Educational Foundation.

The District #300 Educational Foundation expresses its appreciation to those who provide funds for scholarships and for those who support all Foundation activities during the past school year. There is no doubt the mission of “Investing In Our Future” will continue to be realized during the 2016-2017 school year.
