Papoose in holiday attire

Du Quoin Elementary Families,

Our holiday themed days have brought some much needed joy to everyone. Thank you to those who were able to participate. We do finish the themes with Thursday, Dec. 17 as "ugly sweater" day and Friday, Dec. 18 as "Feliz Navidad - Spanish inspired" day. As a reminder, Friday, Dec. 18 is a remote learning day so Google meetings will occur during the mornings with work to complete during the day.

The winter break is Dec. 21 - Jan. 1 with school resuming the week of January 4. Watch the district information concerning the return to school following the winter break, as we continue to review the impact of the virus on our community and design safe ways to continue holding school.

Throughout the school year, I’ve been reminded of this proverb many times over, "it takes a village to raise a child" (African proverb). We live that message every day in every way -- it is with the tremendous support of our families, faculty, staff, and community that the children of Du Quoin Elementary are thriving amidst this most challenging year, filled with so many roadblocks to successes. But, and I'm so proud to say, our kids are achieving! That speaks to the herculean efforts of our whole school staff and  our strong partnership with families. Thank you!

As we approach the winter break, I would like to take this opportunity to bring holiday greetings from Du Quoin Elementary School. On behalf of the faculty and staff, we extend best wishes for a restful, peaceful, healthy holiday season. May you, your family and loved ones, have a joyous holiday and a happy, healthy New Year!
