District 300

Hello District 300 Parents, Guardians and Students,

For this week’s bulletin, I want to start by sharing information from Marshall Browning Hospital’s Community Update last Friday:

“We want to encourage the community to call the Marshall Browning Hospital COVID-19 Hotline if you have questions or concerns about COVID-19. Our Hotline number is 618.542.8958 and is staffed 24/7.

We ask that you refrain from asking questions regarding the number of COVID-19 tests that we have performed or if we have had positive confirmed cases. Due to HIPAA guidelines, we cannot discuss this information. For the latest information on the number of cases in Perry County, please visit the Perry County Health Department’s Facebook page or the Illinois Department of Public Health at https://www.dph.illinois.gov/covid19.

Please protect yourself and others by staying home as much as possible. Continue social distancing of 6 feet or more, avoid large groups or gatherings of people, wash your hands frequently, and use a cloth face covering in community settings.”

With that in mind, for those who are showing support for the Class of 2020 on Friday nights at Van Metre field when the lights are turned on, we ask that you please follow the guidelines for social distancing. I know that the time we have been under these guidelines is growing long, but now is the time we are seeing more confirmed cases in our immediate area and region. To protect our loved ones and community, please remain patient and diligent in following these guidelines.

We are in the process of planning a way to recognize our senior class and 8th grade class in May on the nights that the ceremonies were scheduled to be. We are working to ensure that we can adhere to all health/safety guidelines. Our basic plan will involve folks remaining in their vehicles. We will share more information as soon as we can. A reminder that the traditional graduation and promotion events are planned for the month of July. We will have tentative July dates for everyone soon.

In other news, while our classrooms have been empty we are still taking steps to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. This normally involves pre-registration packets being sent home with our returning students. To make this process friendly to complete from home, we have created an online pre-registration process through TeacherEase. You will be able to pay any applicable registration fees online and complete the majority of “paperwork” online. You will NOT be able to make any lunch deposits for the 2020-2021 school year at this time, however.

To pre-register for 2020-2021, simply login to your TeacherEase account, and you should see a message at the top with a link for registration.  If you do not see a message with a link for online registration on your parent portal, please reach out by e-mail to your child’s principal and we will look to get the issue resolved. If you have any specific questions about the pre-registration process, please direct them to the appropriate building principal through e-mail as well:

Thank you for your continued patience and support during this time. We miss our students and we look forward to the time when we can see them all again. Everyone stay safe.
