Dear DES Families,
We will not have school this Friday so we can attend our Regional Office of Education Teacher Institute training day. Also the following Monday, Oct. 14, Columbus Day, school is dismissed for the holiday. We are beginning to set meeting times for parent-teacher conferences for Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 5-7:30 and Thursday, Oct. 30 from 3:30 - 6:00. Please reach out to your teacher to get that scheduled. Finally, another reminder of our costume policy for Oct.31 when we visit the nursing homes. Please be mindful of our policies in creating those costumes:
No bloody or violent costumes
No excessive makeup
No play weapons
No masks/costumes creating a safety risk for walking in the parade Our route to the nursing homes will be along Jackson Street starting around 8:30 to both centers and then returning to school. You are invited to stand along the route to watch our parade and invite family members and friends to watch. In the case of inclement weather preventing our parade outside, families and friends may gather in the commons to watch our costume parade held inside the school.
