  • February is Random Acts of Kindness month. Starting Monday, through the end of the month, strips of paper will be in each homeroom class in a basket. When you see someone perform an act of kindness, fill out a strip in your homeroom with what the act was, who, and what grade. Put in the basket in your homeroom. Teachers will periodically link them and hang them in the hall.
  • This Friday is National Heart Day! Everyone is encouraged to wear red this Friday in honor of Heart Day

After the Holiday Lights Fair, all items will be given to people in the community who need them.

  • Here are the final counts for the food drive: Mrs. Ritter's class still holds FIRST PLACE for the 12th year in a row with 428 cans. Mrs. Krone's class was second with 219 food items. The winner of the Big Bag of Candy was also Mrs. Ritter's Homeroom with 116 cans of soup. Thank you to everyone that brought items in or those who encouraged others to bring items in. Together, we collected 1,287 food items. This is nearly 900 food items MORE than we collected last year. WAY TO GO!!!!
  • For the Month of November, the homerooms in the lead are Mr. James, Mr. Montgomery, Ms. Higgerson and Mrs. Montgomery’s class. 5th grade is currently in the lead for best grade level attendance.

Top seller was Lyndzee Spann, 2nd place was Jeremiah Akins, and 3rd place went to Isabelle Jones and Zach Tilley.

  • Scholar Bowl tryouts will be held today. Scholar Bowl is open to 7th or 8th grade students only. You do not have to be in high reading or high math to try out, but all classes must have an average of a B-or better to make the team. All areas of expertise are needed math, science, literature/grammar, history, sports and pop culture. Bring a pencil to Mrs. Montgomery’s room on Thursday, October 10th during the first few minutes of lunch to try out.

  • DMS is excited to announce our attendance competition program. Each homeroom will compete against the other homerooms in each grade level. They homeroom with the best attendance rate for the month will receive a prize at the end of each month. Also each grade level will be competing for an overall monthly prize. The grade level with the best attendance rate for each month will earn a monthly reward such as extended recess, a movie, day time dance, and other exciting rewards. You can look for the posters in the hallways and commons to see who is winning.
