Highlights from Homecoming Week/ Dance 2016:

This year at Du Quoin High School the theme for homecoming was “Cartoons”. The grades were the following: Seniors-Scooby Doo, Juniors- The Flintstones, Sophomores-Looney Tunes, and Freshman-Tom & Jerry. The Homecoming Headquarters helped provide activities and special dress-up days to help spark up school spirit. The dress-up days included: Pajama Day (Monday), Twin Day (Tuesday), (ANY CARTOON) Character Day (Wednesday), Throwback Day (Thursday), and Red, Black, & Camo Day to support the football team on game day and the mourn the loss of Roger Dennis (Friday). Some activities throughout the week included a football relay, football captain pie eating contests, ping pong shake, pack the van, plunger races, and most importantly the annual homecoming scavenger hunt on Sunday and the dance on Saturday. All the grades competed for the title of “most-spirited class” by winning different lunch-time/ELT activities and dressing for each day’s theme. Over all, the freshman took the win in both the scavenger hunt and had won the majority of activities included throughout the week.

The Varsity football team had a thrilling win against the Sparta Bulldogs with a score of 55-6. And to make matters more exciting, the homecoming king and queen were announced at the conclusion of the game as Madison Dennis (queen) and Chandler Stevenson (king).
