About the Booster Club

For schools in Illinois that are dependent upon payments from the state, the belt has had to be tightened over the past several years as the state government has not funded its payments at 100%, or at 95% or even 90% in recent years. As a result, many districts look to save money in the areas of athletics and extracurricular activities. Some districts require students to "pay to play" by charging a fee to participate in sports. Some districts have decided to only pay for head coaching positions or eliminated sports with low numbers of participants altogether while others have reduced the number of games/competitions that are allowed during the season. Fortunately, for the students at DHS, none of these things have happened. One major reason why they have not happened has been the efforts of the Booster Club and of our coaches/sponsors to fund raise.

Drawing for a Fire pit and accessories will be on October 23rd, at the Senior night. Tickets are available until the drawing at halftime on the 23rd.

Fundraising Money Helps With?

In just the past three years the Boosters have purchased the following items for teams: girls' basketball uniforms, cheerleading uniforms, girls' track uniforms, boys' track uniforms, volleyball uniforms, golf bags and warm-ups for cross country and track. This list also demonstrates the Booster's willingness and desire to support all teams. In addition to these purchases, during the course of the year, the Booster Club provides meals for teams, stocks coolers with Gatorade for teams, provides plaques for senior athletes and sponsors scholarships through the Educational Foundation.
