We hope your holiday weekend was pleasant. We have a virtual treasure trove of activities at DuQuoin High School this week. September 6 is a holiday and there are no school activities scheduled. On Tuesday the Sophomore Football Indians will travel to the city of Harrisburg for a match-up with the Bulldogs. The sophomores are currently 1 - 0, owning an opening game victory over Bethalto.
On Wednesday the F.C.C.L.A. will hold their annual picnic. It takes place in the cafeteria of DuQuoin High School, with festivities beginning at 5 p.m. For those of you eager to purchase Stanley products, the F.C.C.L.A. will kick off the sales with this picnic.
Thursday football action springs back to life with the Freshman Indians hosting the Tigers of Herrin High School. The Freshman currently sport a record of 0 - 1, losing a hard fought contest to Harrisburg. Kick-off is at 6:30 p.m.
Friday the Varsity Indians take to the road for the first time this season, heading to the Herrin High School sports complex to face the always strong Tigers. The Indians are 1 - 0 in the young season owning a victory over the much-improved Bethalto Civic Memorial gridders. The Harrisburg game score from September 3 was not available at press time.
Mr. Huntley, sponsor, has a F.F.A. camp-out scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Washington County Lake near Nashville, Illinois.
The Indian Golf team packs its clubs and heads for the southern reaches of the state of Illinois for a match at Massac County.
DuQuoin High School will host one of the testing sites for the A.C.T. testing to be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010.
That's it for this week, we'll be back next week with more activities.
