4th Annual District #300 Educational Foundation Golf Scramble A Success

DISTRICT #300 EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

4th Annual Golf Scramble

Held at Red Hawk Country Club

On Friday, August 6, 2010

            The District #300 Educational Foundation recently held its 4th Annual District #300 Educational Foundation James Booker Memorial Golf Scramble fundraiser at the Red Hawk Country Club on Friday, August 6, 2010. Sixty-eight golfers representing 17 teams participated in the morning event.  The four person team of Mark Collins, Mike Mooneyham, Patrick Brewster and Jared Sheffer placed first in the event with a score of 55 (15 under par). 

            The winners of other competitions on the course receiving a gift certificate prize courtesy of Lee’s Sports and a box of Taylor golf balls courtesy of Estel Hoffard – AFLAC included: Closest To Pin –Kyle Lunsford, Longest Putt –Gabe Sveda, Longest Drive (Men) – Mike Mooneyham, and Longest Drive (Women) –Sheila Metten. The winner of the 50/50 raffle was Lonnie James.

 

            The foundation would also express its sincere appreciation to the 36 regional and local businesses that supported this event. Each of the golfers also received several individual gifts including a $5 gift card from Alongi’s Restaurant, a foundation logo engraved sleeve of balls, a set of tees courtesy of Andrew Darnell of Edward Jones and a team picture.  Other participant prizes given away during the event included items donated by Pepsi MidAmerica, Lee’s Sports, Insurance Planning Management and Consultants, Five Star Industries, CDW-G Technology, MV Student Transportation, DuQuoin State Bank, Lunsford Architects, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Satellite Shelters, Stifel-Nicolaus, Zimmerman Chiropractic, AFLAC-Estel Hoffard, Southern Illinois University, WCSIT/ISDA and the Foundation. 

 

            The golf scramble netted nearly $9,000 for the foundation.  The District #300 Educational Foundation expresses its sincere appreciation to those individuals and businesses that supported this successful event to benefit the students in District #300 by “Investing in Our Future”.  Funds from this event will be used to support the highly successful Foundation’s scholarship and mini-grant programs.
