Du Quoin High School Chosen to Host I.H.S.A. Events

Girls' Basketball Sectional and Boys' Basketball Regioanl at Anders Gymnasium

    Du Quoin High School has been chosen by the Illinois High School Athletic Association to host regional and sectional tournament basketball events.  A girls' c;lass 2A basketball sectional will be held at Anders Gymnasium February 16 through February 18.  Winners of the Breese Central, Sparta, Benton, and Murphysboro class 2A regionals will participate.  The semi-finals will be contested on Tuesday, February 16.  Games begin at 6 p.m. with the Country Companies Three Point Shootout contested before the games.  Tuesday winners will meet on the hardcourt on Thursday, February 18 to determine the sectional champion.    The championship game will be played at 7:30 p.m. and the Country Companies Three Point Shootout will once again occur before the game.  The winner of this sectional will move on to face the winner of the Riverton Sectional at the Salem Super-Sectional on Monday, February 22.

    Du Quoin High School's Anders Gymnasium has also been chosen to host an Illinois High School Athletic Association class 2A boys basketball regional the week of February 22 through February 26.  Team seeds and game times and dates have not been released.  Participants in this regional will include teams from Benton, Du Quoin, Herrin, Johnston City, and West Frankfort.  The winner of this tournament will move on to the Herrin Sectional.  The Country Companies Three Point Shootout will be contested on each night of the tourney.

    Du Quoin is proud to be a host school for "America's Original March Madness".
