DMS Builder's Club Raises Funds For Foundation Scholarships

In a recent fundraiser for the District #300 Educational Foundation “Dollars For Scholars” program sponsored by the DuQuoin Middle School Builders Club, $720 was raised for the Foundation’s general scholarship program. The week long fundraising activity allowed students from the DuQuoin Elementary School and DuQuoin Middle School to participate in a “Penny War” to raise funds for graduating high school senior scholarships. Each class from the elementary and middle schools was given the incentive of a pizza party to be the top contributing class from each respective school. At the elementary school level, Mrs. Heather Bookstaver’s 3rd grade class raised over $92 with Mrs. Missy Montgomery’s 7th grade class raising over $64 at the middle school to be the top classes from each building. The District #300 Educational Foundation appreciates the efforts of the DMS Builder’s Club and those students who have contributed to this worthwhile project. The funds raised through this activity will be distributed at the District #300 Educational Foundation Dinner Event on Saturday, May 2, 2009 as part the Foundation’s Scholarship Program that evening.
